Witches and Toesies~ Halloween!

Halloween Trick-or-Treating at school.

First "pedicure"- She just got her toesies polished and they added a cute polka dot flower. I was jealous.

 HALLOWEEN!!!
Samantha was very independent and went to the doors by herself with a quiet "Trick or Treat" and a polite "Thank you". She was so confident in herself and didn't care what anybody thought... But dang, she makes a beautiful witch!

Witching Time

It was dress up week at dance, which I thought was the cutest idea! The girls looked great, especially my non-Disney princess-witch! It was like she was the Villain, as one mom mentioned. The cutest villain EVER! It's important to me that she doesn't always fit into the crowd, especially the princess crowd. We want her to be strong and independent, her own thinker... besides little girls dress up like princesses every day of the week, it's HALLOWEEN time! Time for some spookiness!

Ever see a witch walk on water? She was eye-balling that puddle since before we left the studio.

The Symphony's Halloween Concert

Samantha loved every minute of the Halloween concert this year! Grandma and PaPa saved her her own seat, but she actually preferred dancing in the aisle.

Afterwards, we had dinner with the grandparents and missed out on carving our pumpkins, however Camper Nate did show up for dinner!

These Are My Glasses, This Is My Book

"I put on my glasses and open up the book... Then I read, read, read and I look, look, look; I put down my glasses and close up the book."

As I was in the hallway talking to another mom, not to disrupt the class from singing their songs, Samantha's teacher-assistant, Ms. Dawn, peeped out to tell me that Samantha was leading the class in song. It was so sweet that she hid me from Sam so I could watch and take a couple of pictures of Samantha doing her thing. Eventually, she saw me and waved, but still went about with a big smile on her face <3

Going to school.... E is for Eagle
Playing at the park with Christian. Stella and Brady (neighbors happened to show up too!)

Grandma Ria Days

Masterpiece- Dr. Update

Today was Samantha's 3 year well check visit and she did pretty well, with the exception of not wanting to cooperate for the vision test and was wiggly for the hearing screen. I laugh at the questions "Can she say 3-word sentences?", "Can she name at least one kid in her class?" and "Is 75% of her words understood by others?"- Is that a joke?! The girl will talk your ear off and knows everyone in her class and most of their mamas.
We talked with the doctor about privacy, strangers, nap time/ bed time, and eating habits. As far as bed time: In my opinion, Sam goes to sleep fairly late for a 3 year old: 10pm, but with a 2-2 1/2 hr nap during the day. The pedi says it's normal if a parent gets home late, and I explained that we wait to eat dinner together as a family. She believes that family time is more important than an early bedtime, especially for a kid who still naps as long. Pass.
Strangers: Since Sammie is so friendly we need to stress to her the importance of strangers! She is starting to understand that people we don't know are strangers, but now we need to go into specifics and who she can trust if she gets lost. She will soon learn (which she already knows most), Mama's name, Daddy's name, city/state, then street, etc...
Eating: Sam is the laziest eater! It's not that she's pick because she will eat anything you spoon feed her. She just doesn't want to fork it to her mouth. Pedi isn't too worried as long as she's getting her nutrients. We can work on not being so lazy later.
Bragging Rights: Sam knows her days of the week- in order- (although if it's Wednesday, she's not aware that tomorrow is Thursday or that yesterday was Tuesday), counting to about 15, 10 in Spanish; It only took about a week and she learned her colors in Spanish (Go Mama!)- They are not teaching Spanish at school this year :/
Height: 35.5 inches
Weight 30.6 pounds

Getting blood pressure taken for the first time- Tight Bear Hug!
After her flu shot came a special with Grandma Ria... frozen yogurt!
Another question that was asked was if she could draw a circle if I drew one. Honestly, I never tried, so while the nurse was out charting and we were waiting on the doctor, I picked up the Magna-Doodle and gave it a try. Sure 'nough, she can do it. Then it got me thinking of the little girl in Sams' class that draws perfect people figures. So while we waiting for Daddy, I drew my own circle/stick person on my paper and Sam drew hers... (and signed it herself at the bottom)

3rd Birthday Celebration!

It started out as a terribly windy and chilly day when we got to the park to set up, but as the day happened it turned out beautiful! The day and the party. The kids had so much fun bouncing-bouncing-bouncing!
Thank you, Lori!
