"Walk On, Patches!"

Samantha went riding today!
Ms. Debbie got her ready with a helmet and Samantha helped get a brush to brush Patches (he smells the brush first) and she also pulled out each piece of gear that she would need- Ms. Debbie got the heavy saddle on, but Samantha got out the pad and the reins, which are rainbow colored to show where the beginner rider's hands belong.

 I'm ready!
Samantha is learning that her hands belong on the yellow bars of the reins, holding on tight at "home base". Ms. Debbie teaches her to "put her hands in her right pocket to turn right" and left for left turns. To make Patches walk say, "Walk on" and to have him stop say "Whoa!" Samantha was not used to having to yell commands loudly for him to hear. For the first time she was being a little shy about something.

When finished riding, Samantha help lead Patches back to the barn and helped put all of the gear away where it belonged. Then helped lead him out to the field for him to relax with some delicious hay!

  Nate was there too!
(There's Patches in the back with his yummy hay.)
